The platinum coin is dedicated to the Platinum jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Struck from one ounce of 99.95% platinum in reverse proof quality, the design features the Queen's coat of arms with the letters "EII" ("Elizabeth II") and "R" ("Regina") surmounted by a representation of St. Edward's Crown. Her Majesty's personal emblem is surrounded by Canadian maple leaves, which in turn are interspersed with a ribbon designed by Canadian artist Katherine Rose-Desrochers. The dates "1952 - 2022" refer to the 70th anniversary of the accession to the throne and complete the design. The reverse shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt as well as the denomination and fineness.
70 years ago - on February 6, 1952 - Elizabeth II ascended the throne for the first time at the age of 25 and was crowned queen at Westminster Abbey on June 2, 1953. The ceremony, with the exception of the anointing and communion, was televised for the first time. Since then, Elizabeth II has been the constitutional monarch of 16 sovereign states known as "Commonwealth Realms," including their territories and dependent territories. She is also head of the 53-state Commonwealth of Nations and secular head of the Anglican Church of England. Queen Elizabeth II is the longest reigning monarch to date and the first to celebrate such an anniversary. Limited to 325 pieces worldwide, the Reverse Proof Platinum coin for the Platinum jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
