This silver coin is dedicated to the Year of the Tiger, the third animal in the Chinese zodiac calendar. The motive features a very detailed representation of the head of an adult tiger and the Chinese character for "Tiger". The reverse shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of issue, the denomination, the weight and the fineness. While the lion is considered the undisputed "king of the jungle" in the African and European regions, this status is attributed to the tiger in the Asian region - not least because of its beauty and extraordinary strength.
