On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Disney cartoon "Fantasia", the New Zealand Mint has issued this coin struck from one ounce of 99.9% pure silver in color. The motive of the coin shows Mickey as the sorcerer's apprentice, sitting dozing on a chair. The scene is from the segment "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" from the animated film "Fantasia", which celebrated its premiere in November 1940. The film is based on the poem "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe about a young man who abuses magic and can no longer control it. Mickey also abuses magic in the film and causes great chaos. The obverse of the coin shows the inscription '1 oz 999 Fine Silver' and the Disney™ copyright. The reverse shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions "TWO DOLLARS", "ELIZABETH II", "2020" and "NIUE". The limited mintage of only 1,940 pieces reflects the year of issue. The silver coin in proof quality is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity from the New Zealand Mint.
