» The Kookaburra - an ambassador of Australia «
The Australian Kookaburra Coin has been issued since 1990. The Kookaburra is the national bird of Australia and the worlds largest kingfisher. It got its name from the indigenous people of Australia, who call the bird "Guuguubarra". This name refers to the characteristic sound of the animal. Its calls, which are reminiscent of loud laughter, got the Kookaburra the german nicname "the giggling Hans". The annually changing motive features one or two Kookaburras in their natural habitat. The Kookaburra Coin is one of the worlds most famous silver investment coins. In our Kookaburra Coin Collection you will find a huge selection.
