The sixth issue of the new The Lord of the Rings™ Classic Series is dedicated to Samwise Gamgee™. The coin was struck by the New Zealand Mint from one ounce of 99.9% silver in proof quality. The design features a colorful depiction of the loyal Hobbit on his journey with the Fellowship of the Ring while sitting in an elven boat. He wears the elven cloak given to him by Lady Galadriel. The reverse features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the denomination and the year of issue. The peace-loving Samwise (Sam) Gamgee™ is the son of Hamfast Gamgee™ - the gardener of Bilbo Baggins™ - and Bell Gamgee™. He was chosen by Gandalf™ to accompany Frodo™ on his mission to destroy the One Ring. Through his unwavering loyalty and faithfulness, Sam has been able to ensure that Frodo™ can fulfill his mission on several occasions.
