The Berlin Wall - a memorial and a warning sign at the same time. Despite its rich history, it is one of the most detestable symbols of the former East-West conflict. For more than a quarter of a century, it served to divide East and West Germany - until it fell on 9 November, 1989. This day is closely linked to the Unification of Germany and commemorates the successful resistance and the citizens' courage. Thanks to the peaceful revolution of 1989, Germany is a reunited state again. This historic event marks its 30th anniversary in 2019 and was, hence, immortalized on the commemorative coin. This 2 Euro coin commemorates this historic day on which Germany was reunited, referring to the theme 30 Years Fall of the Berlin Wall. The design was created by an artist of the Monnaie de Paris and shows parts of the fallen wall, peace doves and numerous people who stream through the opening between the wall parts. The special 2 Euro commemorative coin includes both the French wording '30 ANS LA CHUTE DU MUR DE BERLIN' and the German inscription '30 JAHRE MAUERFALL'. This 2 Euro coin is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
