The first issue of the nine-part series "Wonderful World of Insects" is dedicated to the Insect Kingdom. Issued to draw attention to the dramatic insect extinction, the partially colored copper-nickel coin from Germany shows different insects as well as their diverse habitats consisting of various plant species, water bodies and the air. Along the bottom edge of the coin, the inscription "INSEKTENREICH" was engraved, in addition, the edge of the coin contains the inscription "WUNDERWELT INSEKTEN". The reverse shows the federal eagle, the lettering "BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND", the twelve European stars, the denomination "5 EURO", the year of issue 2022 and the mint mark "F" for the mint in Stuttgart.

Insects - including bees, butterflies and beetles - are under particular threat from the currently prevailing form of agriculture. The aggressive pesticides used there, but also the over-fertilization and insect-hostile private gardens rob them of food and habitat. Yet insects play an enormously important role in our ecosystem by pollinating wild and cultivated plants and also serve as food for various bird species. Studies have shown that so far there has been a decline of up to 80% in the biomass of insects. The 5 Euro Commemorative Coin - Insect Kingdom in proof quality is delivered in a protective coin capsule.
