The eighth issue of the Solar System Series is dedicated to Uranus. The motive of the dome shaped coin depicts a colored and detailed image of the planet Uranus illuminated by sun rays. The reverse features the inscription "THE SOLAR SYSTEM", the fineness, the year of issue and the American Bald Eagle. Uranus is the third-largest planet in our solar system after Jupiter and Saturn and four times the size of the Earth. Its orbital period around the sun is 84 years. The blue gas giant first became known after it was discovered by William Herschel on March 13, 1781. It consists mainly of hydrogen, helium and methane and has, according to current knowledge, a total of 27 moons - the four best known of its moons are called Ariel, Umbriel, Titania and Oberon. The limited silver proof coin is delivered in a protective coin capsule.
The original collection box for all nine coins of the series is included with the purchase of the first issue "The Sun".
