The Chibi Coins collection has been issued by the New Zealand Mint since 2020. They are the world's first coins in this style. Chibi is Japanese and means "small/tiny", "cute" or "dwarf". The term comes from the anime and manga drawing style, where the characters are portrayed in a comic-like or cute and simplified way. Chibi figures are characterized by their disproportionately large head and a relatively small body.
