The first issue of the new annual Canadian Wildlife Portraits Series from the Royal Canadian Mint is dedicated to the Canadian Cougar. The coin was struck from 35 grams of 99.999% pure gold and features the close view of a cougar on the branch of a tree. The design also includes the initials 'DMJ' by the artist Denis Mayer Junior. The reverse of the coin depicts the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the year '2019' and the denomination '350 DOLLARS'. The cougar belongs to the genus of cats and is native to North, Central and South America. The muscular cat eats mainly deers, small animals and fishes. Although their range has shrunk significantly, the cougar is not yet considered an endangered species. The limited Puma gold coin is delivered in the original box including a certificate of the Royal Canadian Mint.
