The striking gold coin was minted by the Royal Canadian Mint from 5 ounces of 99.99% pure gold and is already the fourth issue from the series "Birds of Prey". The design was created by Canadian artist Pierre Leduc and features a detailed depiction of the golden eagle. The exceptional engraving technique allows Canada's untamed yet beautiful nature to shine in all its glory on this coin. Additionally, a Privy Mark for the 40th Anniversary of the Maple Leaf gold coin is included in the design, as well as the inscriptions "CANADA," "500 DOLLARS," "5 Oz 9999 Au" and "2019." The reverse presents the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The golden eagle is one of Canada's largest and most powerful birds of prey. Its range extends from North America to Europe and Asia. Golden eagles are true acrobats and can turn on their backs in flight to grab their prey from below. Hence their nickname "King of the skies". The mintage of this exclusive gold coin is strictly limited to only 99 pieces worldwide. The 5 Oz gold coin in proof quality is delivered in the original box of the Royal Canadian Mint including a numbered certificate of authenticity.
