On September 8th, 2022 the world stood still for a moment - Queen Elizabeth II died. This silver coin was issued in honor of the monarch, who was a symbol of constancy, reliability and sincerity for countless people around the world. Struck from one ounce of 99.9% silver in proof quality, the gilded motive features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, her shadow falling on a mirror in the background, where it shows the young queen. The inscription "QUEEN ELIZABETH II" is also part of the design. The reverse shows the Ian Rank Broadley portrait of Her Majesty as well as the weight, fineness, denomination and year of issue.
Elizabeth II was born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary of the House of Windsor in London on April 21, 1926. On February 6, 1952, she first ascended the throne at the age of 25 and was crowned Queen at Westminster Abbey on June 2, 1953. She was constitutional monarch of 16 sovereign states known as "Commonwealth Realms," including their territories and dependent territories, head of the 53-state Commonwealth of Nations, and secular head of the Anglican Church of England. Queen Elizabeth II was the longest reigning monarch to date and the first ever to celebrate a platinum jubilee. She died at the age of 96 surrounded by her closest family members at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. As a result of her death, her son, King Charles III, took over the regency from then on.
