The Gold coin is dedicated to the Platinum jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Struck from one ounce of 99.99% pure gold in proof quality, the motive centrally shows a portrait of the young Queen Elizabeth II, which is surrounded by various royal symbols as well as the national symbols - rose (England), shamrock (Northern Ireland), thistle (Scotland) and leek (Wales). Above the portrait is the crown, and below are the inscriptions "QUEEN ELIZABETH II" and "PLATINUM JUBILEE". The distinctive feature of this coin is the real sapphire set into the obverse. The blue gemstone has always been of great importance for kings and aristocrats and is considered a symbol of royalty. The reverse shows the Ian Rank Broadley portrait of Her Majesty as well as the denomination, year of issue, weight and fineness.
70 years ago - on February 6, 1952 - Elizabeth II ascended the throne for the first time at the age of 25 and was crowned queen at Westminster Abbey on June 2, 1953. The ceremony, with the exception of the anointing and communion, was televised for the first time. Since then, Elizabeth II has been the constitutional monarch of 16 sovereign states known as "Commonwealth Realms," including their territories and dependent territories. She is also head of the 53-state Commonwealth of Nations and secular head of the Anglican Church of England. Queen Elizabeth II is the longest reigning monarch to date and the first to celebrate such an anniversary. Strictly limited to 150 pieces worldwide, the gold proof coin for the Platinum jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II with genuine sapphire is delivered in the original box including a numbered certificate of authenticity.
