The new issue of the Australian Lunar Series III of the Perth Mint is dedicated to the Year of the Dragon. The dragon is the fifth animal in the Chinese zodiac calendar. The fifth issue of the 12-year Lunar III series features a dragon and a stylized depiction of waves and fog. Also included in the design are the Chinese character for "Dragon," the inscription "DRAGON 2024" and the mintmark "P125," which refers to the 125th anniversary of the Perth Mint. The reverse shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, supplemented with the years of her reign, as well as the denomination and fineness.
The Dragon is attributed with qualities such as reliability, self-confidence, courage and a strong willpower. Those born under the sign of the Dragon in 2024, 2012, 2000, 1988, 1976, 1964, and every 12th year before are considered energetic, enthusiastic, and intelligent.
