The Premium Bullion coin is the fifth issue of the Australian Nugget Series from the Perth Mint. The coin was struck from one ounce of 99.99% pure gold in uncirculated quality. After dedicating the first four issues of the series to the "Welcome Stranger", "Hand of Faith", "Golden Eagle" and "Little Hero" nugget, the Perth Mint celebrates the discovery of the "Pride of Australia" nugget with this issue.
With a weight of about 7 kilograms, the nugget was found north of Melbourne in 1981 and gained popularity because of its shape, which resembles that of the mainland Australia. The nugget is depicted on the motive and is framed by the inscriptions "AUSTRALIAN NUGGET", "PRIDE OF AUSTRALIA" and "2023 1oz 9999 GOLD". The reverse features the Jody Clark portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, supplemented with the dates of her reign and the monetary denomination "100 DOLLARS". The limited gold bullion coin is delivered in a protective coin capsule.
