The Series British Music Legends celebrates the music legends of Great Britain. The fourth release is dedicated to The Who, one of the most important and influential bands of the 60s and 70s. The formation, which later achieved worldwide fame as "The Who", emerged from the school band "The Detours", formed in 1959, and was composed of Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, John Entwistle and Keith Moon. After the first successes with works such as the single "I can't explain", The Who achieved their breakthrough at the latest after the release of the rock opera "Tommy", written by Townshend. The album "Who's next", released in 1971, included the songs "Baba O'Riley", "Won't Get Fooled Again" and "Behind Blue Eyes", which are among the most famous works of The Who. The spectacular stage shows, as well as the band members' habit of destroying their equipment following their performances, made the band's acts - including at the 1969 Woodstock Festival - unforgettable. The motive of the coin features iconic symbols associated with the band - a Union flag, the mod logo and a Rickenbacker guitar in the shape of a pinball table. The reverse features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and the denomination "100 Pounds". The limited premium bullion coin was struck by the Royal Mint from one ounce of 99.99% pure gold and is delivered in a protective capsule.
