The design of the third issue of the series Australia's Coat of Arms is dedicated to the coat of arms of Queensland. It is Australia's oldest coat of arms and was granted by Queen Victoria in 1893. The motive depicts a brolga crane, the official bird of the state of Queensland. A bull, a sheep, gold and wheat can be seen in the background, symbolizing the colony's great wealth. The denomination "100 DOLLARS" and a band with the inscription "QUEENSLAND" are also included in the design. The reverse features a majestic stag, as well as the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The stag was introduced to Australia by Queen Victoria. She gifted a herd of deer from her royal hunting grounds to the colony at the time. Nowadays, the animal symbolizes the connection with the old world and the former colonies of England. Other floral elements as well as the weight, the fineness and the Latin motto "AUDAX AT FIDELIS" complete the design. The coin was struck by the Royal Australian Mint from one ounce of 99.99% pure gold with a mintage of only 5,000 pieces worldwide. The Premium Gold Bullion coin is delivered in a protective capsule.
