The Australian Koala gold bullion coin was struck by the Perth Mint from 1/10 oz of 99.99% pure gold. The 2024 issue shows a koala climbing up the branch of a eucalyptus tree. The inscription “KOALA”, the year of issue, the weight and fineness of the coin and the mintmark “P125” for the 125th anniversary of the Perth Mint are also included in the design. The reverse features the Dan Thorne portrait of King Charles III as well as the face value “15 DOLLARS” and the inscriptions “CHARLES III” and “AUSTRALIA”.
Together with the kangaroo, the koala is one of the most famous representatives of Australian fauna and is considered one of the most popular symbols of Australia, not least because of its cute appearance. On the first view, koalas seem to be loners. Only on closer observation is it possible to see that they live in a stable social system. Each animal has its own territory. In it there are solid food and sleeping trees. Koalas eat only the nutrient-poor leaves of the eucalyptus tree. They are still very fussy. Of the approximately 600 eucalyptus species in Australia, they accept only a very small number as food. The Australian Koala coins are in strong demand within collectors and investors worldwide. The Koala gold bullion coin is delivered in a protective coin capsule.
