The Australian Kookaburra is one of the most famous silver coin classics, meanwhile also issued as Kookaburra gold coin. The bullion coin has been minted since 1990 in various weight units and with annually changing motives. This issue celebrates the 35th anniversary of the Kookaburra series. Struck by the Perth Mint from a 1/10 ounce of 99.99% pure gold, the motive presents a detailed depiction of a Kookaburra surrounded by stylized sunbeams. The design is completed by the inscription 'KOOKABURRA - 35th ANNIVERSARY' and the Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark, the year of issue, the weight and the fineness. The reverse features the Dan Thorne effigy of King Charles III and the denomination. The kookaburra is the largest member of the kingfisher family and the national bird of Australia. It is also called "laughing Hans" in German. It owes this name to its loud call, which is comparable to human laughter, and which it prefers to sound in the early morning and late evening. The limited gold bullion coin commemorating the 35th anniversary of the Kookaburra is delivered in a protective capsule.
