The Australian Kookaburra is one of the most famous silver coin classics, meanwhile also issued as Kookaburra gold coin. In silver, the Kookaburra has been minted since 1990 in various weight units and with annually changing motives. The 2021 bullion coin was struck by the Perth Mint from a 1/10 ounce of 99.99% pure gold. The motive shows a Kookaburra sitting on a branch in its natural habitat. Below it, a branch with leaves is visible. The inscription "AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA", the traditional mintmark "P" of the Perth Mint as well as the year of issue, weight and fineness complete the design. The reverse shows the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the denomination. The Kookaburra is the largest member of the kingfisher family and the national bird of Australia. It is also called "laughing Hans" in German. It owes this name to its loud call, which is comparable to human laughter, and which it prefers to sound in the early morning and late evening. The mintage is limited to only 15,000 pieces worldwide. The Kookaburra gold bullion coin is delivered in a protective capsule.
