Like the predecessors in the series, the Kangaroo and Koala, the Emu is one of Australia's landmarks and adorns the third and final issue of the Road Sign series, which is issued by the renowned Royal Australian Mint. Both the motive of the coin and the packaging are based on Australia's world-famous road signs, which are extremely popular with tourists. The design also includes details of the coin's weight and fineness. The reverse shows the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination and year of issue.
The Australian emu is a large flightless migratory bird that undertakes long migrations and covers long distances. Its primitive feathers, reminiscent of coarse hair, help it to survive the extreme temperature fluctuations in the Australian outback. The Emu Road Sign 1 Oz gold coin is limited to 500 pieces worldwide and is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
*Finally, max. only 500 pieces of the originally planned 5,000 coins were struck.
