The first issue of the Australian Road Sign series was struck from one ounce of 99.99% pure gold and features the internationally recognized motive of a jumping kangaroo on a road sign, which serves to warn drivers of vehicles in the outback. The weight and fineness of the coin are also included in the design. The reverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank Broadley as well as the denomination, the country of issue and the year of issue.
