The 2021 edition of the Perth Mint is dedicated to the Year of the Ox. Following the mouse, the Ox is the second animal in the Chinese Zodiac calendar. The coin was struck from a 1/20 ounce of 99.99% pure gold. The motive features a colored image of a strong ox infront of a pomegranate tree. Also included in the design are the Chinese character for "Ox", the inscription "OX 2021" and the traditional mintmark "P" of the Perth Mint. The reverse shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the denomination and the fineness. Oxen possess an enormous work force and are the oldest documented draft animals, which are used in agriculture and other fields. Those born under the sign of the Chinese ox are considered friendly, intelligent, honest and reliable. They are characterized by a high work ethic, logical thinking and composure.
