Struck by the Perth Mint from one ounce 99.99% pure gold, this proof coin celebrates the 50th anniversary of mankind’s first landing on the moon. The successful landing of United States spacecraft Apollo 11’s Lunar Module Eagle on the Moon was watched by more than half a billion people on TV in 1969. Humanity collectively held its breath as astronaut Neil Armstrong stepped onto the Moon’s surface, proclaiming, 'That’s one small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind'. The $100 gold coin portrays a representation of the Lunar Module Eagle behind a large footprint on the Moon’s surface. The design includes the inscription 'MOON LANDING 1969-2019'. The obverse depicts the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions 'ELIZABETH II', 'AUSTRALIA', '1oz 9999 Au' '2019' and '100 DOLLARS'.
