The special set from the exclusive Earth and Beyond Series of the Royal Australian Mint showcases the majesty of our galaxy - the Milky Way. Included in the set is twice the final release in the Earth and Beyond Series, once the silver edition of the Milky Way and once the gold variant of the Milky Way, which is the world's first domed gold coin in color. The set is limited to a maximum of 750 pieces worldwide. The dome-shaped sides of both coins feature a colorful image of the cosmic spectacle we know as the "Milky Way". The convex shape and the unique cosmic color print add depth to the coins, making them look very realistic. On the silver coin, the colorful Milky Way is surrounded by a silver ring with stars, planets and the Earth, as well as the inscription "2021 THE EARTH AND BEYOND - THE MILKY WAY" and "FIVE DOLLARS". On the gold coin, the Milky Way is framed by a gold ring with stars, planets and the Earth, as well as the inscription "2021 THE EARTH AND BEYOND - THE MILKY WAY" and "100 DOLLARS". The reverse shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination, weight and fineness. The Milky Way is one of trillions of galaxies and is the galaxy that is home to our solar system with planet Earth. The spiral galaxy, which appears to the observer like a milky band in the night sky, consists of an estimated 100 to 400 billion stars and is about 13.6 billion years old. Our home galaxy has a diameter of up to 200,000 light years. Our solar system is positioned quite far out, about 26,000 light-years from the center of the Milky Way, where dust, gas and stars are centered in the galaxy's hot, bright core. The center, known as the bulge, cannot be seen by us optically due to dark clouds and interstellar matter - but it is still worth taking a look at the night sky, because with its open star clusters and dense nebulae, the Milky Way always offers the observer a breathtaking sight. The limited dome-shaped Earth and Beyond Set in color is delivered in the original boxes including certificates of authenticity from the Royal Australian Mint.
