The Kangaroo is one of the most popular representatives of the Australian animal kingdom and one of the most famous landmarks of the Australian continent. This gold coin was minted by the Perth Mint from a 1/4 ounce 99.99% pure gold in proof quality. The 2025 design features two adult kangaroos. In the foreground, the first kangaroo lies relaxed on the ground, while the second kangaroo hops happily through the landscape in the background. The motive also shows the inscription “KANGAROO” and the mintmark “P”, which refers to the Perth Mint's minting location. Details of the year of issue, weight and fineness complete the design. The reverse shows the Dan Thorne portrait of King Charles III and the denomination.

The kangaroo (Macropodidae) is one of the most well-known representatives of the marsupials, along with the koala, and lives on the southern continent of Australia. Over 60 different species of Australia's most famous landmark can be found there. Full-grown kangaroos can jump up to 10 meters and reach a maximum speed of over 70 km/h. Their diet consists mainly of leaves and grass. Depending on the species, the marsupials can live solitary or in groups. Their natural enemies include dingoes and raptors.
