The strictly limited Australian Koala High Relief Gold coin features one of Australia's most popular marsupials. Besides the kangaroo, the koala also represents the most famous symbol of Australia. The coin was struck by the Perth Mint from one ounce of 99.99% pure gold in proof quality. The motive features a koala on a gum tree branch with a joey clinging to its back. The inscription "KOALA", the year of issue, the weight and fineness of the coin, and the Perth Mint's mintmark "P" are also included in the design. The reverse shows the Jody Clark portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, supplemented with the years of her reign, the denomination "100 DOLLARS" and the inscriptions "ELIZABETH II" and "AUSTRALIA".
