The 2021 edition of the Wedge-Tailed Eagle is the sixth design by the famous engraver John M. Mercanti. The motive of the High Relief gold coin depicts a Wedge-Tailed Eagle - Australia's largest bird of prey - in flight. In its claws it holds a snake it has just captured. The motive is framed by the inscriptions "AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE" and "2021 1oz 9999 GOLD". The traditional mintmark "P" of the Perth Mint is also included in the design. The reverse shows the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denominaton. The Wedge-Tailed Eagle is one of the biggest eagles in the world. Its impressive wings measure a wingspan of up to 2.7 meters. The strictly limited High Relief Wedge-Tailed Eagle gold proof coin is delivered in the original wooden box including a numbered certificate of authenticity from the Perth Mint.
