Mercanti, the 12th engraver of the US Mint. The issue celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Wedge-Tailed Eagle and features a combination of eight designs, all designed by Mercanti, that appeared on coins between the years 2016 and 2024. The design is completed by the inscription “AUSTRALIAN WEDGE-TAILED EAGLE”, the year of issue, the weight, the fineness and the mintmark “P125”, marking the 125th anniversary of the renowned Perth Mint. The reverse shows the portrait of King Charles III and the denomination.
The Wedge-Tailed eagle is one of the biggest eagles in the world. Its wings measure a wingspan of up to 2.7 meters. The impressive animal is mostly native to Australia, Tasmania and southern Papua New Guinea and feeds mainly on reptiles and small mammals. Strictly limited to only 25 pieces worldwide, the The Wedge-Tailed Eagle 10 Oz gold proof coin is delivered in the noble original wooden box including a numbered certificate of authenticity from the Perth Mint.
