The 2020 edition of the Wedge-Tailed Eagle was struck by the Perth Mint from 5 ounces of 99.99% pure gold. The motive features the fifth design by the famous engraver John M. Mercanti. It depicts a magnificent Wedge-Tailed eagle swooping on its prey in the midst of a hunt. In addition the inscription "Wedge-Tailed Eagle", the year of issue, the fineness and the traditional Mintmark "P" of the Perth Mint are included in the design. The reverse shows the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the denomination.

The Wedge-Tailed eagle is one of the biggest eagles in the world. His impressive wings have a wingspan of up to 2.7 meters.
