According to an ancient Chinese legend, the Emperor organized a great race among all the animals of the earth to determine the twelve positions of the lunar calendar. Each animal had to cross a raging river. The horse nearly secured sixth place, but just before the finish line, the cunning snake leapt from its hiding place, startled the horse, and crossed ahead of it. Thus, the horse takes the seventh position in the zodiac.

The seventh release of the 12-year Lunar III Series features a highly detailed depiction of a magnificent horse with raised hooves, embodying strength and grace. In the background, majestic mountain ranges stretch across expansive grasslands. The intricate design also incorporates the Chinese character for “Horse”, the inscription “HORSE 2026”, and The Perth Mint’s traditional “P” mintmark.
