The new issue of the Australian Lunar Series III of the Perth Mint is dedicated to the Year of the Snake. The snake is the sixth animal in the Chinese lunar calendar. The sixth issue of the 12-year Lunar III Series presents an artistically designed motive showing a snake winding elegantly between bamboo stalks. The design includes the Chinese character for “snake”, the inscription “SNAKE 2025” and the Perth Mint's “P” mintmark. The reverse of the coin features a portrait of King Charles III designed by Dan Thorne. The mintage is limited to only 188 pieces worldwide.
The snake is said to have particularly strong intuition, wisdom, intelligence and good powers of observation. People born in the Year of the Snake are considered to be cultured, sensitive, philosophical and artistically inclined. The strictly limited High Relief Year of the Snake gold proof coin is delivered in the original box including a numbered certificate of authenticity from the Perth Mint.
