According to Chinese mythology, the dragon is a divine being and a strong symbol of power, strength, wealth and luck. The legendary mythical creature is traditionally depicted as chasing a flaming pearl, which is a metaphor for wisdom and enlightenment. The dragon's determination to capture the pearl is evident in its open mouth, large eyes and extended claws. The reverse of the coin features the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year of issue 2020, the denomination "100 DOLLARS" and the traditional mint mark "P" of the Perth Mint.
