The coin from the Chinese Mythical Creatures Series was struck by the Perth Mint from one ounce of 99.99% pure gold and depicts a Dragon with bulging eyes, a fearsome jaw and curved horns. The reverse features the Jody Clark effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, supplemented with the dates of her reign as well as the denomination of the coin. According to Chinese mythology, the dragon is a divine being and a strong symbol of power, strength, wealth and luck. The legendary mythical creature is traditionally depicted as chasing a flaming pearl, which is a metaphor for wisdom and enlightenment. The mintage is strictly limited to only 188 pieces worldwide. The gold proof coin Golden Dragon is delivered in the original wooden box including a numbered certificate from the Perth Mint.
