The coin from the Chinese Mythical Creatures Series was struck by the Perth Mint from one ounce of 99.99% pure gold and depicts a golden dragon which seems to be playing with a pearl. The obverse features the mintmark “P125”, which refers to the 125th anniversary of the Perth Mint, as well as the coin's weight, fineness and the year of issue 2024. The reverse features the effigy of King Charles III and the denomination.
According to Chinese mythology, the dragon is a divine being and a strong symbol of power, strength, wealth and luck. The legendary mythical creature is traditionally depicted in pursuit of a pearl, a metaphor for wisdom and enlightenment. The mintage is limited to only 188 pieces worldwide. The Golden Dragon gold proof coin is delivered in the original wooden case including a numbered certificate of authenticity from the Perth Mint.
