The gold coin is dedicated to the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Struck from two ounces of 99.99% pure gold in proof quality, the motive depicts the Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom. The coat of arms features heraldic symbols representing England, Scotland and Ireland. At the top left and bottom right are three striding lions respectively. At the top right is another red lion surrounded by a double lily border and at the bottom left is a harp. The floral tendrils surrounding the crest combine stylized representations of an English rose, an Irish shamrock, and a Scottish thistle, as well as Australian wattle. The inscription "H.M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II 1952 | 2022", the mintmark "P" from the Perth Mint and an artistic interpretation of the mantle from the royal coat of arms are also included in the design. The reverse features a floral fan in the background and the first and current likenesses of Her Majesty in the foreground. The weight, fineness, denomination and year of issue complete the design.
70 years ago - on February 6, 1952 - Elizabeth II first ascended the throne at the age of 25 and was crowned Queen on June 2, 1953 in Westminster Abbey. The ceremony, with the exception of the anointing and communion, was televised for the first time. Since then, Elizabeth II has been the constitutional monarch of 16 sovereign states known as "Commonwealth Realms," including their territories and dependent areas. She is also head of the 53-state Commonwealth of Nations and secular head of the Anglican Church of England. Queen Elizabeth II is the longest reigning monarch to date and the first to celebrate such an anniversary. Strictly limited to 200 pieces worldwide, the gold proof coin for the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II is delivered in the original box including a numbered certificate of authenticity.
