The 2024 Quarter Sovereign gold coin was struck by the Perth Mint from 91.67% pure gold in proof quality. The commemorative coin is dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the Perth Mint and honors the Sovereign as the first minted coin in the Perth Mint's permanent gold issue. The motive features a depiction of St. George, a Roman guardian and Christian martyr who, according to tradition, saved a princess from a dragon and has since become a symbolic embodiment of courage and the victory of good over evil. The design also includes the inscription “AUSTRALIA”, the year of issue “2024” and the mintmark “P125” to mark the anniversary of the Australian mint. The reverse shows the Dan Thorne portrait of King Charles III and the denomination. This special Quarter Sovereign gold coin is delivered in the original box including a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
