The 2025 Five Sovereign gold coin was struck by the Perth Mint from 91.67% pure gold in proof quality. The commemorative coin honors the Sovereign as the first minted coin in the Perth Mint's permanent gold issue. The motive is selectively plated with rose gold and features a depiction of St. George, a Roman guardian and Christian martyr who, according to tradition, saved a princess from a dragon and has since become a symbolic embodiment of courage and the victory of good over evil. The design also includes the inscription “AUSTRALIA”, the year of issue “2025” and the mintmark “P” for the Australian mint. The reverse shows the Dan Thorne portrait of King Charles III and the denomination. This special Five Sovereign gold coin is delivered in the original box including a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
