The 2026 Sovereign gold coin was struck by The Perth Mint from 91.67% pure gold in proof quality. The commemorative coin pays tribute to the Sovereign as the first coin struck in The Perth Mint’s permanent gold exhibition. The design features a depiction of Saint George, a Roman guard and Christian martyr who, according to legend, is said to have saved a princess from a dragon and has since stood as a symbolic embodiment of courage and the triumph of good over evil. Also included in the design are a Privy Mark for the 100th Birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, the inscription "AUSTRALIA", the year of issue "2026" and The Perth Mint’s "P" mintmark. The reverse shows the Dan Thorne portrait of King Charles III and the denomination. The limited Sovereign gold coin is delivered in the original box including a numbered certificate of authenticity.
