This Double Sovereign gold coin was struck 2019 by the Perth Mint from 91.70% gold in proof quality. The commemorative gold coin celebrates the 200th anniversary of Queen Victoria’s birth in 2019 and pays tribute to the historic 1855 Sydney Mint Sovereign coin designed by Royal Mint Engraver Leonard Charles Wyon, which was the first coin to be produced at the Sydney Mint in 1855. The coin portrays the St. Edward’s crown, a laurel wreath and historic elements of the original coin design from the Royal Mint. In celebration of the 200th anniversary of Queen Victoria’s birth in 2019, the coin also has a ‘200’ privy mark. The coin’s obverse depicts the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2019 year-date and the monetary denomination. This Double Sovereign gold coin is delivered in the original box including a numbered certificate of authenticity from the Perth Mint.
