The Australian Double Sovereign Gold coin was struck by the Perth Mint from 91.67% gold in proof quality. The commemorative gold coin was released in honor of Queen Elizabeth II, who celebrated her 95th birthday in 2021. Furthermore, it pays tribute to the historic 1855 Sydney Mint Sovereign coin designed by Royal Mint Engraver Leonard Charles Wyon, which was the first coin to be produced at the Sydney Mint in 1855. The coin portrays the St. Edward’s crown, a laurel wreath and historic elements of the original coin design from the Royal Mint. In celebration of the 95th anniversary of the birth of Queen Elizabeth II in 2021, the coin also has a '95' privy mark. The coin’s reverse depicts the Jody Clark effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, the 2021 year-date and the monetary denomination. This Double Sovereign gold coin is delivered in the original wooden box including a numbered certificate of authenticity from the Perth Mint.
