The Canadian Maple Leaf is undoubtedly one of the most famous and popular coins in the world. Traditionally, the motive of the coin from the Royal Canadian Mint shows the national symbol and the ambassador of Canada - the Maple Leaf. This exceptional Maple Leaf issue was struck from one ounce of 99.99% pure gold in Ultra High Relief. This minting creates a plastic effect that provides the Maple leaf with a unique appearance. The relief is based on a design by retired engraver Susan Taylor, who began her career under the tutelage of Walter Ott, the creator of the world-famous Maple Leaf design. Both the Maple leaf and the edge of the coin were finished with a platinum plating, providing a contrasting effect. The inscriptions "CANADA", "FINE GOLD 1 OZ ARGENT PUR" and the fineness surround the maple leaf. The reverse has also been provided with a selective platinum plating and features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, along with the denomination, the dates of her reign and the year of issue.
