With this 2026 Peace Dollar coin struck from one ounce of 99.99% pure gold, the Royal Canadian Mint commemorates the shared vision of peace and freedom. The newly designed motive of the Peace Dollar differs significantly from the close-ups seen in previous designs. The design was created by retired engraver Susan Taylor, finished with a platinum plating and features for the second time a full portrait of Lady Peace positioned on a stretch of coastline. This allegorical depiction is supported by motives of maple leaves, while maple leaf-shaped rays of light refract through the clouds. Together, this creative combination of elements conveys a message of hope for peace, today and in the future. On the reverse is the effigy of King Charles III. The inscriptions “CHARLES III”, “CANADA”, “D.G.REX” and the denomination “200 DOLLARS” are also included in the design.

The mintage of this issue is limited to 600 pieces worldwide. More than 100 years ago - in 1921 - the first Peace Dollar was minted by the US Mint to commemorate peace after the First World War. Canadian Foreign Minister Lester B. Pearson finally organized the first UN peacekeeping force in 1957. This and his other efforts not only earned him the Nobel Peace Prize - they also helped to cement Canada's reputation as a peacekeeping and peace-loving nation.
