The fifth issue of the World's Wildlife Series is dedicated to the Ocean Rays (Batoidea). The coin set of 1.85 ounces of gold contains four gold coins ranging from a 1/10 - 1 ounce, showing different depictions of an ocean ray. At the edge of all gold coins are the inscriptions "OCEAN RAYS" and "WORLD'S WILDLIFE". The reverse features the coat of arms of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Rays are one of the most majestic sea creatures on earth, with more than 500 different kinds. The flat, disc-shaped fish can not only be found in the sea, but also in rivers and lakes. Rays have unique anatomical features, such as the special type of gill slits that allow them to filter oxygen directly from the water. Among the most famous species are the venomous stingray, the manta ray and the electric ray.
