The first issue of the Series Prehistoric Life II from the Congo is dedicated to the dinosaur Triceratops. The motive of the coin struck from 0,5 gram 99.99% pure gold features a triceratops in a prehistoric landscape. The reverse depicts the coat of arms of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Triceratops lived at the end of the Upper Cretaceous period in what is now North America. It belongs to the genus of bird-backed dinosaurs, which were characterized by their horns and neck shield.
