In collaboration with the famous comic author Romain Hugault, the Monnaie de Paris commemorates aircraft that have made history with the series "Aviation and History". This gold coin is dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Alpha Jet - an iconic aircraft of the French aerobatic squadron from the 1980s. Developed out of a cooperation between Germany and France, the twin-engine light fighter-bomber was used especially for close air support. In France, the aircraft belonged to the well-known "Patrouille de France" flying squadron. The motive of the Euro gold coin features an Alpha Jet in flight. The design is surrounded by the inscriptions "40 ANS D'ALPHA JET", "1981-2021" and "Patrouille de France". The reverse features two pilots, symbolizing military and civil activity, as well as outlines of various types of aircraft. The inscription "L'AVIATION & L'HISTOIRE" (engl.: "Aviation and History") is also included in the design. The limited 1/4 Oz commemorative gold coin from France is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
