On the occasion of the Olympic Games 2024 in Paris, the Monnaie de Paris has issued this 1/4 oz gold coin in proof quality celebrating the prestigious international competition. The design presents the handover of the relay between Japan and France, the two host nations of the Olympic Games in 2020 and 2024. The relay is being handed over between a Japanese athlete and a French female athlete. In the background are the Tokyo Tower, modeled after the Eiffel Tower, and its counterpart in Paris. On the reverse, the Japanese and French flags are shown side by side, with the center circle of the Japanese flag moving to the right and becoming rings, an allusion to the Olympic rings. The PARIS2024 Olympics can be seen on the right half of the coin. The denomination "50 EURO" and the year of issue "2021" are also included in the design. The limited commemorative coin "From Tokyo to Paris" is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
