The Monnaie de Paris dedicates the series Masterpieces of Museums to the great works of art that are exhibited or have been created in France. This rectangular commemorative coin struck from a 1/4 Ounce of 99.9% gold has been issued in honor of the eminent French painter Claude Monet (1840-1926) and his work The Water Lily Pond: Green Harmony. The world-famous painting was created in 1899 and shows the water lily pond from Monet's garden in Giverny and the Japanese Bridge that crosses the pond. The motive of the 50 euro gold coin depicts a detailed image of the painting as well as the building of the Musée d'Orsay and the original title of the painting - Le Bassin aux Nymphéas, Harmonie Verte. The name of the artist, Claude Monet, and the year of issue, 2022, are also part of the design. The reverse of the coin features different views of French museums, as well as the inscription "RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" and the denomination "50 EURO".

Claude Monet is considered the main representative and pioneer of Impressionism and worked abstractly with impressions, light and colors. The so-called Water Lilies series is one of the most famous works of the exceptional artist - it consists of a total of 250 oil paintings, which thematize the pond in Monet's garden, and inspired generations of subsequent artists. The limited commemorative gold coin is delivered in the original box including a certificate of authenticity.
