The first issue of the Colours of Australia series is titled "Red Centre" and is dedicated to the so-called "Red Heart of Australia", also known as the "Outback". The coin was struck from one ounce of 99.99% pure gold and is strictly limited to only 99 pieces worldwide. The motive in color depicts semi-arid wilderness of sandy red dunes in the Northern Territory, surrounded by several golden kangaroos and the inscription "COLOURS OF AUSTRALIA - RED CENTRE". The reverse features the portrait of King Charles III and the inscriptions "100 DOLLARS", "1OZ 9999 GOLD" and "NIUE 2024".

The Australian outback, often referred to as the 'Red Heart of Australia', owes its name to the red, dusty earth that characterizes the landscape.
