The new issue of the Australian Lunar Series III of the Perth Mint is dedicated to the Year of the Horse. The horse is the seventh animal in the Chinese zodiac calendar. The seventh issue of the 12-year Lunar III series features a detailed depiction of a majestic mare together with her young foal. Both are shown in dynamic galloping pose with elegantly flowing manes. In the background, imposing mountain ranges rise up in harmonious contrast to the lush tranquility of expansive grasslands. The artistic design also incorporates the Chinese character for “Horse,” the inscription “HORSE 2026”, as well as The Perth Mint’s traditional “P” mintmark. The obverse of the coin shows the Dan Thorne portrait of King Charles III, complemented by the weight, fineness, and denomination.
Horses have been faithful companions of humankind for thousands of years. They embody strength, elegance, and sensitivity, and are regarded as symbols of freedom and grace. To this day, they play an important role in sport, leisure, and culture. People born in the Year of the Horse are considered energetic, freedom-loving, and independent, while also being sociable, charming, and full of vitality. The Year of the Horse bullion coin struck from five ounces of 99.99% pure silver is delivered in a protective coin capsule.
